The goal of Happy Faces Preschool Academy and Child CAre Facility is to prepare preschoolers for kindergarten and to provide care for children of working parents.
Our objective is to ensure that our enrichment program provides for children's individual, creative, physical, cognitive, language, and social development in a clean safe and developmentally appropriate setting. And to provide care that is nurturing and stimulating.
Our Philosophy is based on the theories of the following influential people in the history of early childhood education. Johann Pestalozzi, believed that children learn actively, from concrete experiences. Friedrich Frobel, placed great emphasis on the importance of play. Erik Erikson, believed that each stage of development id defined by conflicts, which render opportunities for personality growth and development, and Jean Piaget's, cognitive developmental theory that focuses on how children's intelligence and thinking abilities emerge through distinct stages. Our enrichment program and care supports these beliefs and philosophies and allows for the growth and development of each child as an individual and valuable human being. We further believe that all children are special and should be treated with care and respect.
Our program consists of: A language rich environment that promotes the meaning of words in the context of experience and modeling positive social interaction; A writing center containing various writing tools for opportunities to practice emerging writing skills; A math center containing a variety of materials to help students learn arithmetic and problem solving; A science center for hands on experiences with exploration, and experimentation, observation, documentation, and problem solving; Dramatic play opportunities to allow children to learn about themselves and the community around them, Manipulatives to promote eye-hand coordination, visual discrimination, fine motor skills and creative thinking, Active play to build coordination, balance, and agility, Sand and Water play to provide opportunities for pouring, sifting, building, and digging to promote coordination and fine motor skills, Art projects that will encourage creativity and provide a unique opportunity for preschoolers to achieve individual success as well as develop fine motor control and explore new horizons; A Music center with hands on instruments and music to offer opportunities for children to sing, dance, and enjoy the beauty of music. Our program also offers a lot of Free play, Circle Time Learning Activities, Social Skills, Personal Skills, and Health and Nutrition Awareness.
Our School Readiness Assessments and Program consist of: Information known about self, Listening and following directions, Relating experiences, Expressing ideas, Asking questions, Speaking with reasonable grammatical correctness and politeness, Large and Small motor skills, Tactile skills, Social and Emotional skills, Cognitive development, Psychomotor development, and Self care skills.(Adopted from "How To Prepare Your Child For Kindergarten" By Florence Karnofsky and Trudy Weiss. Our assessments are done primarily through observations and verbal communication. Our entire Enrichment Program consists of learning opportunities in support of preparing preschoolers for Kindergarten.
